International Publisher Sought for The Children’s Mandela Series

International Publisher sought to take The Children’s Mandela – and two more books in the series – international.

Background

Future by Design Publishing, a South African publisher, is looking to sell the international publishing rights to a three book series, the first being a coffee table book entitled ‘The Children’s Mandela, A tribute to Nelson Mandela from the children of South Africa’.

The books are designed to be an upmarket execution in print in full colour, with a quality hard cover housing approximately 250 pages.

Three Book Deal

There are 3 books in the series. We are busy with two other books based on a similar theme, focusing on other icons or people of interest around the world. Over and above the book on Nelson Mandela, we have collected sufficient responses and artwork, for a further book for publication in America, and would look to the publisher to be involved in this book.

We believe that the third book in the series will provide a bestselling conclusion to the series and will be easily translatable into many different languages.

Target Market

The target market is the general adult and corporate gift book buying public around the world, where the name and legacy of Mandela is revered, and who identify with having small children. The market will be for teens, parents, grandparents and teachers everywhere. Due to the nature of the Icon that is Mandela, translation into other languages is also envisaged. We believe that the English, Dutch, French, German, Canadian and US markets will do well with this view on Mandela.

Best Seller Status

In its first month in South Africa, the book was well on its way to achieving best seller status as a must have coffee table book with something in it for everyone.

While the book is about Mandela, it provides insights in to the man, the children, the country and the minds of the future leaders. It is both insightful and extremely amusing, giving the reader or browser an amazing feeling of amusement, well-being and positivity.

The book was first published in South Africa in order to capitalise on the Christmas 2010 and to be available for purchase during Mr. Mandela’s lifetime.

Apart from retail sales, we believe that a book like this will have tremendous appeal for the corporate Christmas gifting market.

Competing Books

At present, there are many books on Nelson Mandela, some for adults and some for children.  However, there are no coffee table books published which combine the insights into this great man, through the eyes of the children of a nation, across all ethnic groups and backgrounds. This is truly a unique view into the soul of a nation, and a treat for every reader.
